Supervised tooth brushing... 🤨

Dental hygiene is important. Of course it is. But are we now getting to a point where teachers do everything? Seriously. They are currently performing the roles of support workers, police officers, mental health workers, truant officers, therapists, medics... and the list continues. But now, let's add to the list... dentists. When will these policy makers and politicians realise that already over-burdened and burnt out staff just can't cope with these demands much longer? With the profession already in a recruitment crisis and staff shortages across all levels, do they really think that adding additional roles and responsibilities, unpaid might we add, will help us out of this crisis. Oral hygiene should be left to the professionals and the parents, not the teachers. Or do you disagree and think this is a winning policy and will actually have long-term benefits?
