AI seems to be all the rage at the minute. And let's face it, it will change the course of pretty much every sector in the UK at some point. So education and attendance, how will AI help? Well it appears to be to 'spot trends in absence', according to Labour. There doesn't appear to be much more detail than this, however, it may well be a welcome change of tact from the current policy under the Conservative administration which is throwing £15 million at it over three years, which, let's be honest, probably won't touch the sides. Not only this, Labour are thinking about free breakfast clubs for all primary school children, additional mental health support in schools (definitely a welcome addition) and more funding for early speech-and-language interventions. It's not exactly the days of 'Education, Education, Education' but it could be a step in the right direction.
What are your thoughts? Can AI be a useful tool for improving attendance, and how would this even work? Is Labour heading in the right direction or do we need much more detail and clarity on this? Have your say in the forum or on our social media channels.
