Sexual harassment 'normalised' in schools

This is quite horrific... Education should be a safe space for children. They should not come to school and see that sexual harassment or sexualised language and images are 'normal'. And with 90% of girls interviewed reporting that they hear or experience sexist name-calling and that they are pressured to send explicit images either 'a lot' or 'sometimes'; this is absolutely terrifying and quite gross. How do we as teachers and educators fix this problem? Is developing and implementing better RSHE curriculum a solution? Maybe, but it is surely much bigger than this. Children are now able to access the internet and apps like never before. They are exposed to a world of all sorts of horrors, so perhaps some form of training and education around online safety is a more prudent solution. And what about cultural education amongst young boys? Is it worth while teaching young boys about the norms of sexual relationships earlier and the types of language and expectations they have, challenging the norms perhaps? Will the Online Safety Bill tackle any of these issues?
